About WaxCycle

WaxCycle is a Dutch workshop that does one thing only: professionally cleaning and hot-waxing bicycle chains. The business was founded by Rick Remmelink and has been based in Drempt in the Achterhoek (Gelderland) since 2025. We sell ready-to-fit waxed chains and treat chains that customers send in from all over Europe.

What WaxCycle does

We do two things. With the Re-Wax service you send in your own chain; we degrease it, give it an ultrasonic clean, check it for wear, wax it again and send it back vacuum-packed. With the Pre-Wax chains you buy a new chain that has already been treated and can go straight on the bike.

Where we are and how to reach us

The workshop is at H. Remmelinkweg 3, 6996 DH Drempt, the Netherlands. Every chain is treated there by hand; nothing is outsourced. You can reach us at info@waxcycle.nl or by phone on +31 6 51743108. Visits are by appointment. WaxCycle is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 88930254.

How we work

Every chain goes through the same steps: degreasing, ultrasonic cleaning right down between the rollers and pins, measuring for chain wear, immersion in molten wax, loosening by hand and vacuum packing. We work in small batches rather than big runs, so every chain really does get checked. If a chain is worn out, we don't just wax it anyway — we let the customer know.

Which wax we use

We use Silca Secret Chain Blend Hot Wax, a paraffin base with friction-reducing additives that is also used in the pro peloton. We offer it in three variants: Speed for maximum speed over short distances, Standard as the all-rounder for racing and training, and Endurance for gravel, MTB and long distances.

Why wax instead of oil

Chain wear mainly happens because oil binds sand and dust, and that mix acts like grinding paste between the pins. Wax is dry and hardly picks up any dirt. The result is a quieter, more efficient drivetrain, and a chain, cassette and chainrings that last up to roughly three times longer than with wet chain oil.

Who it's for

Our customers are road cyclists, gravel riders, mountain bikers and bikepackers who take their kit seriously, plus riders who simply can't be bothered with a filthy drivetrain. We treat 9- to 13-speed chains from Shimano, SRAM, KMC and Campagnolo, and ship within the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and the rest of Europe.
